Telehealth Visits

How it works:

The first visit typically lasts 60 minutes, and follow ups are 30-45 minutes.

During your first visit we will talk about your health goals, your current diet and lifestyle, your medical history, your family medical history, any medications or supplements you are on, and anything else pertinent to you! We try to do this as streamlined as we can and will have you give us a lot of this information our ahead of time.

You will receive a follow up email after our visit with recommendations and follow up instructions. We aim to make this as straightforward as possible and want to make sure you are getting the care you need. We may need to refer you to an in-person provider in your area for an exam or arrange for you to meet one of our doctors in person.

What is a telemedicine/telehealth vitsit?

We are in the midst of all of these rules changing, as primary care family practice doctors are becoming more in-demand and technology is making telemedicine more possible.

A cyber-visit, also known as telemedicine, is a visit between a client and a provider over a video or phone. There are technical and legal differences between an in person visit and a cyber visit. First of all, if your doctor hasn't seen you in person, then according to some state laws and insurance rules they can't officially be your doctor. They will be a 'consultant' and will be giving you advice and recommendations, not treatment plans and prescriptions. Also, since they can't perform a physical exam, they legally can't diagnose you (this is changing with video in some areas). And depending on your state, they may not be able to order labs for you. Sometimes, they will have to work with other doctors for the labs and physical exam but it is rarely a problem.
